The Schlage B-Series Deadbolt is a tough, reliable lock built for home front doors and small office entranceways. Made with solid steel internal parts, a brass cylinder core, and a free-spinning steel pin inside the bolt tongue, it stands up directly to brute force attacks, jimmying, and hacksaws.
This page covers the full range of options. Use the dropdown menus to choose the lock style and color finish you need for your door project:
1. Choose Your Lock Style
Single Cylinder (B60): Has a keyhole on the outside and a small turn-button on the inside. It lets you lock and unlock the door quickly from the inside without needing to find a key.
Double Cylinder (B62): Requires a key to lock or unlock from both the inside and the outside. This is used for doors with glass panels next to them, so a thief cannot simply smash the glass, reach inside, and flick a turn-button open.
2. Choose Your Color Finish
Satin Chrome (SC): A clean, brushed silver look. It is highly popular, hides fingerprints well, and does not scratch easily. Great for offices and modern homes.
Satin Nickel (SN): A slightly warmer, softer brushed silver color that matches most modern interior door handles and decor.
Polished Brass (PB): A traditional, shiny bright gold look. Best suited for older villas, heritage renovations, and classic wooden doors.
Key Features
Hacksaw Defeating Bolt: The solid deadbolt tongue has an internal hardened steel pin that spins freely if anyone tries to cut through it, ruining the saw blade.
Adjustable Latch: The latch fits standard 60mm or 70mm hole configurations out of the box, making it fast to replace old hardware.
Hidden Screws: A solid metal guard plates cover the installation screws from the inside, making it much harder to pry or wrench the lock off the door.

đź’ˇ Locksmith’s Installation Tip:
Choosing the right style: Standard standalone New Zealand houses do not have rules against double-cylinder locks, so you can legally use a Double Cylinder (B62) on your home if you want the extra protection around glass windows. However, remember that if there is a fire, a double-cylinder lock requires you to find a key just to get out, which can be dangerous in a dark, smoky room. Because of this rule, deadbolts are no longer allowed in modern commercial buildings or apartments—businesses and apartments must use single-action escape locks instead so people can exit in one motion. If you do install a B-Series deadbolt, make sure to completely chisel or drill out the 25mm hole inside the door frame. If wood dust or metal chips stop the deadbolt from clicking out to its full 1-inch length, the lock’s security guard will not engage, making it easy for someone to slide it open from the outside.
