Safes
Home and office safes
Beveridges maintains stock of the more common models in its’ four stores. These safes come in a range styles and sizes from a micro-wave oven (e.g. 14 litre) to large cabinet, and most are fire resistant. Key, combination and digital operation options are available. Beveridges can permanently install your safe to most concrete or wooden floors, or substantial wall.
Tip – There are plenty of cheap safes available through chain stores that can deliver a low level of security. Often these safes have mechanisms that can’t be serviced by locksmiths or replacement keys are not readily available. If you are buying a safe for your home or office ask about after sales service, battery life and key replacement.

Deposit/Day Safes
For use in commercial enterprises for holding limited amounts of cash and have slot or draw to deposit cash without opening the safe itself. Only some deposit safes are fire rated and they come in a wide range of styles and sizes.
Tip – Just because a deposit safe doesn’t have a thick composite wall or digital lock operation doesn’t mean it’s not secure. Many very good deposit safes utilise tough, thick steel plate construction, and have very secure multiple lever key locks that are often more reliable and secure than other locks. Ask your locksmith about what design of deposit safe is most appropriate to your application.

Commercial deposit safes
These seriously secure safes with high quality lock mechanisms, offering high levels of security incorporating door re-locker devices and composite walls with anti-drill materials and construction techniques. Typically these safes are available with combination or digital locks. These safes can typically weigh 200kg to 580kg . [Commercial safe pic here]
Tip – Check with your insurer about their requirements for your safe storage. Some insurers insist on a certain “cash rating” or other performance criteria that needs to be met.

Data safes
These safes are for storing data tapes, discs or other data storage devices. These safes use special construction techniques and materials that limit the transmission of heat. Typically they have a small internal storage capacity compared to their external dimensions due the heat resisting materials used. Some small portable briefcase type models are available for taking data off-site for safe storage.
Tip – Typically fire resistant safes are not data safes. The specification for each type of safe is quite different and should not be confused, as data storage temperature resistance has to be significantly more than that delivered by a fire resistant safe designed to hold cash and hard-copy documents.
