Mortise lock (3 or 5 lever locks)
A good quality five lever mortise lock is very secure and takes a lot of beating. Many older NZ homes have two lever mortise locks that aren’t very secure. We can usually replace a two lever lock with a modern three lever lock very cost effectively.
Tip - Typically, the more levers the lock has the more secure it is. The five lever mortise lock is almost always fitted as standard lock in the UK as they meet UK insurance standards. NZ doesn’t have a similar standard.
